In the News: Council approves purchase of two vehicles

The Russellville City Council met at City Hall on Monday, July 3 to approve a number of items on the agenda.
Originally, there were eight items on the agenda, but during the work session, one item was omitted. Item No. 6, which asked the council to consider approving quotes received for roof repairs at the John Blackwell Sports Complex, was taken off.

In the News: Russellville gets approval for additional storm shelter

After a devastating 2011 EF5 tornado ripped through Franklin County, city officials decided to do all they could to provide storm shelters for residents.
“We were able to use FEMA grants to get money to build the storm shelters,” said District 2 City Councilman William Nale. “Our goal was to make sure everyone had a safe place to go, if at all possible.”

In the News: Ball park safe room project approved

The Russellville City Council met on Monday night to discuss 11 items on the approved agenda. One item on the agenda, which regarded a contract with an engineering firm, was omitted in the work session.
Russellville mayor David Grissom was not present, so District 3 councilman Gary Cummings led the meeting.

Downtown loft apartments drew citizens to the heart of Russellville Sunday, as developers David Grissom and Chris Wallace threw open the doors of the two one-bedroom residences in the Reed Building on Jackson.

In the News: Gubernatorial candidate makes stop at open house

The Reed Building in downtown Russellville hosted a special guest when it held its open house on Sunday afternoon. The recently renovated building, which consists of a downstairs office space and two upstairs loft apartments, was packed with people, among which were many elected officials.
Mayor David Grissom, whose company Made in USA Properties, LLC. owns the building, was there, as well as many members of the Russellville City Council and Alabama state senator Larry Stutts. But the man people came to see was Huntsville Republican mayor Tommy Battle, who has mounted a 2018 gubernatorial campaign.

In the News: Russellville shows off first downtown loft apartments

Matt Cooper said the completion of loft apartments is the first step in revitalizing downtown.

In the News: Battle to campaign in Russellville Sunday

Huntsville Mayor and Alabama gubernatorial candidate Tommy Battle will be making a campaign stop in Russellville Sunday afternoon.
Battle, who is in his third term as Huntsville’s mayor, will be speaking in conjunction with open house of some recently completed downtown loft apartments.

In the News: Consulting institute reports progress to council

During the work session, members from the Human Resources Consulting Government and Economic Development Institute at Auburn University met with the council and citizens and presented a report of their progress in regards to developing policies and procedures for city departments and employees.

In the News: Reed Building to host open house

For the first time ever, loft apartments will soon be available to lease in downtown Russellville.
On Sunday, June 11, an open house will be held at the newly named Reed building to give interested individuals the opportunity to check out the two new one-bedroom, one-bathroom apartments at 110 Jackson Avenue North.
