Papa John’s is coming to town.

The popular pizza chain will be moving in to the building that formerly housed the Long Lewis dealership on U.S. 43 in Russellville.

In the News: IHP donates manufactured home to drug unit

Thanks to a generous donation from a Russellville business, the Franklin County Drug Unit will now have its own office and training space located behind the Franklin County Jail.

On Wednesday, officials with Innovative Hearth Products (IHP) donated a manufactured home, previously used by the company to showcase their products, to the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office to be used by the Franklin County Drug Unit.

Mark Klein, CEO of Innovative Hearth Products, said he was glad his company had the chance to support local law enforcement.

In the News: Southern Energy Homes to relocate in Russellville

After months of searching for a buyer for the empty Franklin Homes property in Russellville Industrial Park #2, officials recently found a buyer that will offer a much-needed boost to the local economy.

According to officials, Southern Energy Homes finalized closing agreements on Friday, Oct. 11, to acquire the 27-acre property and accompanying buildings that will house the Southern Homes division of the company, which is relocating from its current location in Double Springs.

In the News: Russellville gets grant to expand road

One of the most heavily traveled roads in Russellville is about to get a facelift.

City officials said Wednesday the state has awarded Russellville a $977,000 grant for road work on Lawrence Street, which runs in front of the Innovative Hearth Products plant.

The grant will enable the city to install a left turning lane in front of the plant, a right turning lane and a red light at the intersection of Lawrence Street and Alabama 24. The road will also be expanded to add a left turning lane onto Alabama 24 with the signal.

Gov. Robert Bentley said there was no question Franklin County needs jobs.

“That’s why it’s an honor for me to be here today to make this announcement of at least 245 jobs coming to Russellville and Franklin County,” Bentley said.

Innovative Hearth Products, headquartered in Nashville, will expand its Russellville operation, tripling the size of the current building.

In the News: New jobs in Franklin County… Bentley on hand for Ground Breaking

It seems as though Governor Robert Bentley is spending more and more time in Northwest Alabama these days. Friday, he was in Russellville to participate in ground breaking ceremonies for Innovative Hearth Products.

Headquartered in Nashville, Innovative Hearth Products designs, manufactures, and sells fireplaces and accessories. It offers indoor and outdoor fireplaces, such as gas, electric, and wood fireplaces; and fireplace inserts, free-standing stoves, gas log sets, and venting products for the specialty retail, residential new construction, and industrial markets.

Yesterday was big news for Franklin County. The company broke ground Friday for a 210,000 square foot expansion of their Russellville operations.

In the News: Local plant announces expansion, creation of 245 new jobs

Innovative Hearth Products, the parent company of the Russellville FMI plant officially announced Thursday that they will be expanding the local manufacturing plant and adding close to 250 new jobs.

A groundbreaking ceremony will be held at the plant on Lawrence Street, in the former H.D. Lee building, at 2 p.m. Friday.

An additional 210,000 square feet will be added to the existing 110,000 square feet facility. The plans are to have the facility completed by spring or summer of 2014.

Mayor David Grissom wants companies to consider Russellville, a gun friendly town.

Now the city is taking aim at a new target:  companies that manufacture firearms or ammunition.
