The city has received a grant through the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs to help upgrade the Police Department’s patrol fleet.
Mayor David Grissom said the city has received a $15,309 grant from the U.S. Department of Justice, which will be administered by ADECA.
Grissom said the money will help with the purchase of a new vehicle for the police department’s drug division.
“When money is tight, you have to look at every opportunity for grant money,” Grissom said. “This will help us cover the cost of the new vehicle.
“We try to do all we can to update our (police department) fleet, but there is just so much money to go around, so getting a grant of any size is a blessing for us.”
