Six sets of new aluminum bleachers are on the way to Hal Kirby Jr. Park after the Russellville City Council approved the purchase of the same at its Monday meeting.
Council members approved an expense of $17,451 for six five-row 21-foot bleachers and six aluminum benches, freight included. Mayor David Grissom said the bleachers would be ordered Tuesday. Grissom said the estimated cost to assemble the bleachers would be $1200-$1500, but even with that cost added to the purchase, it fell way short of the other quote of $32,400.
In other action, the council:
–purchased a 2012 Dodge dump truck from local gas tax funds for a cost of $24,200.
–accepted the resignation of Officer Josh Tompkins and Dispatcher Ellie Hester from the Russellville Police Department and declared vacancies for the two positions and asked the Civil Service Board to add an additional name to the list of officer prospects for a total of five names.
–accepted a letter of resignation from Larry Archer from the Russellville Industrial Development Board.
–agreed to waive the in lieu of tax payment pilot from the Russellville Housing Authority.
–authorized street repairs in the amount of $3,700 from Nelms and Gasque for work to be done on Grove Street to alleviate flooding.
