In the News: Council signs approves resolution for Martin Luther King Jr. Day

The Russellville City Council’s first meeting of the year was a record-quick event, with a short agenda wrapped up in a matter of minutes.
The council took the opportunity to give recognition to the upcoming Martin Luther King Jr. Day, approving a resolution lauding King and his accomplishments. Mayor Pro Tem Gary Cummings, who led the meeting in Mayor David Grissom’s absence, also shared the schedule for MLK Day activities in the City of Russellville, Jan. 16.
11-11:20 a.m. – Symbolic march steps off from the Chucky Mullins Center
Noon – March concludes at the Franklin County Courthouse, marked by prayer
12:10 p.m. – Attendees convene at A.W. Todd Centre
12:20 p.m. – Program begins at A.W. Todd Centre. Robert Avery and Maletha Walker to speak.
The council also:
- Approved waiver of the rental fee for the A.W. Todd Centre for the MLK Day program.
- Authorized the abatement of nuisance of a house on Cross Street.
